The GammaPix™ App, originally developed for several federal agencies, transforms a smartphone into an ionizing radiation detector. This application diverges from typical Geiger counter alternatives by employing the phone's cameras to detect radiation. Its development received support from notable organizations, including the U.S. Department of Defense, the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (U.S. Department of Homeland Security), and the Transportation Research Board (U.S. National Academy of Sciences), which encouraged its public release.
